Army of volunteers helping Arbory/Rushen residents

A team of over 100 volunteers is supporting residents in Arbory and Rushen during the pandemic.

That's according to commissioners there who say those giving up their time to help others will be heading to homes in the parishes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to see if people have an orange or green card on display in their houses.

As part of a new initiative, the orange card means the person indoors may be in need of assistance for shopping or just a chat, whilst a green one will let teams know all is okay.

Those wanting support from the project are asked to leave their name and number on a note somewhere visible so they can be contacted and, if necessary, helpers will knock on the door to chat but will maintain the social distancing rules.
