Introductory evening of Wheelchair Rugby League

More Information (3FM is not responsible for external websites)

Following the parish walk last year I got my wish!

The event is a two hour period of fun with as little talking from me as possible, it is totally free for anyone to take part.

An introductory evening providing the opportunity for individuals to come along and have a go at some of the aspects of wheelchair sports with a focus on Wheelchair Rugby League. The first half of the evening will include some basketball so players can get a feel for the chairs and movement and a later focus on the game of Rugby League.

Wheelchair Rugby League has been created to be the most inclusive and accessible variant of Rugby League for all abilities. It is the only Rugby League offer that is wholly inclusive and teams feature wheelchair athletes and non-disabled players.

The ultimate goal would be to set up a team to improve the physical well-being of players who can’t participate in the running game. One day we could have a national team!

The game is quite unique in that it offers both disabled and non-disabled players the opportunity to compete both with and against each other, my nine year old gives me a run for my money!

No matter what gender or age all players compete on a level playing field (indoors) which is created by the use of wheelchairs and some slight adaptations of the rules of Rugby League.

If you are interested or simply want to come and find out more, I would encourage adults and children alike to come along and try something new.

The emphasise is on community and fun and a passion for Rugby of course.
