17th Annual Beer, Cider and Gin Festival

Midday Thursday June 17th heralds the start of the Sulby Glen Hotel’s 17th Annual Beer Festival. The last two years we have endured some unprecedented times and have relied heavily on our local suppliers, and our Island based Breweries keeping us all fed and watered through this so horrible pandemic, Our Breweries have kept brewing even though many in England have stopped brewing or closed down. In view of this we intend to slightly amend our programme for this year. Instead of all our Beers being brought in from overseas, this year we intend to showcase our local breweries as well as those from overseas.
We have a wealth of exceptionally good brewers and brews on our Island, we intend to bring them altogether in one place. Giving the public of the Island a chance to sample the quality beers the Island produces

each of the six expert brewers on the Island have offered to produce a special brew just for the Festival, as well as the excellent/ premium brews they already produce.

Over 20 different brews will be available over the week long festival.
Their tasting notes have by collated in a specially produced souvenir program sponsored by Heron and Brearley. The programmed will also contain a list of dates and entertainment provided over the Festival.

The Festival will be complimented by our local Cider producers, a special attendance of the Grand Master, of “OddFellows” Cider is expected on the Saturday Evening. Fynoderee Gin, producers of the superb Manx Gins is also supporting the Festival, and customers will have the opportunity to sample not just this seasons Gin but the whole range of their Gins in one place.

Entertainment is planned for the Thursday, Friday and Saturday and to finish the week off, three Charity Events are planned: the first is a showing of the famous ‘Three Wheeling Film ” About our Local Hero’s of the Sidecar World. This event is to help raise funds the much needed for the Hyperbaric chamber, the second is a General Knowledge quiz to help raise funds for the Joey Dunlop foundation and the A.C.U Benevolent Fund, the third is a Fantastic Bingo Night in aid of the Ramsey Lifeboat Fund.

Refreshments to compliment your tastings will be available at the Festival with a selection of hot pies and pasties on sale with the option of chip shop peas and rich savoury gravy.

The Sulby Glen Hotel would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in producing this event; There has been a lot of hard work by all
behind the scenes, but a Special mention has to be given to Heron and Brearley for their cooperation, support and the technical expertise of their cellar service technicians.
The Brewers themselves, because without them, there would not be a festival.
The help and support from the Islands CAMRA branch for their help and volunteers dispensing the brews.
Last but not least, The MANX public for supporting the event.
