For July's celebration of culture we have proudly partnered with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company to bring The Vintage Mobile Cinema Bus to St. John's! Throughout the day we'll be showing a selection of vintage British Pathe films about the Isle of Man!
The bus, originally built in 1967, was used by the British Ministry of Technology to provide training sessions to help boost industrial productivity. Now, however, it has taken on a rather different role, travelling around the British Isles showcasing historic British Pathé films. After being rescued from a field in 2003 the bus was extensively refurbished and even appeared on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces.
We invite you to travel back in time with us through the history of Our Island, from the Royal Visit of 1945 to the celebration of Manx Dancing with Skedden Jarg in 2014!
Showings will last around 15 minutes and tickets are completely free!
The Year of Our Island project wishes to thank the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company for its support in bringing this fantastic piece of interactive history to the Isle of Man for our National Week!
