Two people have died after reports of an explosion in a garden.
Emergency services were called at 6.10pm on Friday to a house in Heol Fawr, Nelson, Caerphilly, south Wales.
Gwent Police said officers and firefighters from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene.
A spokesman said: "Two people have sadly been pronounced dead at the scene and their family has been informed."
The road, close to the centre of the village, remains closed as investigations continue.
Forensic teams remained at the two-storey house on Saturday, with photos showing blown-out windows and burn marks on the wall.
Neighbours described seeing the home on fire and multiple emergency service vehicles on the scene in the aftermath of the incident.
