Three children in hospital after pram hit by trailer

Three young children are in hospital after a trailer became detached from a vehicle and struck a pram while it was being pushed on the pavement in southwestern Scotland.

Three children aged eight months, 14 months, and 18 months, were initially taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and later transferred to the Royal Children's Hospital in Glasgow.

Medical staff are currently assessing their injuries.

The trailer is believed to have become detached from a Mitsubishi Outlander, which then mounted the pavement and struck the pram while it was being pushed by an 18-year-old woman.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment and was later discharged.

The incident happened around 3.15pm on Monday on Pleasance Avenue in Dumfries, police said and the road remains closed while investigators examine the scene.

"We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area."

Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 1870 of 13 October, he said.
