Schools are trialing new schemes to bring more racial diversity to the Manx curriculum.
The move comes after a survey revealed some youngsters are experiencing or witnessing racism on a regular basis.
About 40% of respondents said it was a problem, while 32% said racial diversity was welcomed on the Isle of Man.
The majority of respondents felt the Manx school curriculum should reflect growing racial diversity.
As a result, a working party involving schools, People of Colour IOM, Manx National Heritage and Culture Vannin was formed to consider how to promote and develop racial awareness for all Island children.
Topics such as celebrating different ethnic backgrounds and the history of the Isle of Man in relation to key global events and movements will be phased in this year.
Certain matters concerning race are already covered in the school curriculum, but the aim is to make sure there's a consistent thread of development starting from reception and continuing through the years.
