A contractor is expected to start work on new Laxey flood defences this week.
This will involve building another section of flood defence wall along Glen Road, and strengthening part of an existing wall on the opposite bank.
The Department of Infrastructure says the contractor will move into the site today, Monday, June 8, with works expected to continue until the end of September.
A temporary road will be used to move materials, and Glen Road's expected to see heavy vehicle traffic - parents are being asked to remind children to take care.
