A woman who drove from Douglas to Ballaugh while more than two and a half times the drink-drive limit has been banned from the roads.
Sarah Louise Novak of Main Road in Ballaugh appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The 49 year old admitted a single count of drink-driving on July 30.
Prosecutor Rachael Braidwood told the court a motorist stopped on the Tholt-y-Will Road just after 8pm because he thought Novak’s Audi A3 had been abandoned.
However, she was inside the damaged car and said she was waiting for her brother.
She then drove off at speed and the passer-by rang police – when they arrived at her home she admitted she’d been drinking and had hit a car park post.
Mrs Hughes fined her £1,500 and ordered her to pay £125 costs as well as banning her from driving for three years.
