The Met Office has issued an amber warning about coastal overtopping and harbour flooding.
The warning runs from 9am until 1pm this afternoon.
Forecasters say strong to gale force winds combined with spring tides might see debris wash over Douglas, Ramsey, Laxey and Castletown Promenades as well as Shore Road in Gansey at around 11.15am.
At the same time, there’s a risk of inner harbour flooding as the tide reaches its highest – at risk are the Tongue, North Quay and Lake Road in Douglas as well as Mezeron Corner and West Quay in Ramsey.
