Douglas Council's urging the public to watch what they put in kerbside recycling boxes after a used nappy was found in one.
It warned on Facebook workers often find broken glass, needles, sharp kitchen knives, and dog muck bags in the crates.
Thousands of boxes are handled by the council every fortnight.
The corporation says each household in the capital has access to a wheelie bin for disposing of non-recyclable waste.
