Party goers have been urged to take extra care this evening on what’s traditionally one of the busiest nights of the year.
It’s so called "Black Eye Friday” – the last Friday before Christmas and the start of the festive period for many.
Police say the number of people visiting Douglas is likely to be much higher and have urged revellers to be responsible when drinking.
Officers will be deployed at key locations at peak times in order to keep people safe.
However Inspector Phil Shimmin says the stigma attached to the evening has changed:
