Volunteers needed to help protect Island's bats

Wildlife enthusiasts are being encouraged to get involved in a new project to help conserve the Island’s bat population.

The Manx Bat Group is asking for volunteers to come forward for a Bat Search to mark International Year of the Bat.

There are seven species of bat in the Isle of Man and volunteers that take part will be asked to go out in the spring and summer months to watch and listen for bat activity to try and find out where the animals live and feed.

Chairman of the Manx Bat Group, Bob Moon, told 3FM more about the project:

If you are interested in taking part you can call 612067 or e-mail batsearch@manxbatgroup.org.
