The organisers of the Commonwealth Youth Games have made an urgent request for volunteers for the event to be held in September.
After numerous appeals already they’ve said a lot of people are verbally committing, but they need to sign the individuals up so they can begin the process of task allocation.
Over 1000 athletes from 71 nations will be in attendance and it’s estimated that there will be a need for at least 1000 local volunteers.
Among the many roles needed to be filled will be the airport welcoming committee, a large amount of drivers are required, security and steward staff and for the opening night roughly 150 teenagers are needed for the spectacular Walk The Plank ceremony.
Games Director Geoff Karran is pleading with the Manx public to offer up their services if they have any spare time from the 7th to the 13th September.
