Proposed work on Victoria Road in Douglas to see highway and drainage improvements has been pushed back after the Shoprite store in the area raised concerns.
The works were scheduled to commence shortly and would have caused significant disruption to both the store and their customers at a busy time of year.
After airing their concerns to Department of Infrastructure MHK’s Tim Crookall and Graham Cregeen a compromise was reached.
It was flagged up that proper consultation with Shoprite prior to the works had not taken place; the MHK’s have now asked officers to draft a more robust consultation process for future use.
The work has been delayed to a yet to be confirmed date, later in the year.
