VAT's the plunder of EU

MPs in the UK claim the Isle of Man's being subsidised as a tax haven because out VAT agreement is too generous.

Labour MP Margaret Hodge is demanding the UK publishes a formula used to calculate how much VAT we get back from Westminster.

The Island lost hundreds of millions of pounds in income the last time the UK thought we'd been overpaid.

The debate comes in the wake of the Paradise Papers stolen from law firm Appleby, which showed aircraft imported to Europe via the Island were avoiding VAT.
