Police took a van off the road yesterday and had it scrapped as part of a safety initiative.
Officers were in Santon on the lookout for defective vehicles – 12 were stopped with various defects including two with damaged wing mirrors.
Motorists have been thanked for their patience – officers say they will be carrying out more checks at a different location next week.
