UNITE head unimpressed by DCCL bus stance

The head of the UNITE union on the Isle of Man has slammed the Community, Culture and Leisure Minister after a row over bus drivers’ terms and conditions.

Earlier this week drivers received a letter from Graham Cregeen which it’s claimed threatened them with dismissal if they didn’t conform to new plans – a claim denied by the department. 

It follows an ongoing debate over whether staff should give up their paid lunch breaks in order to help the department find savings of £300,000. 

A further meeting between concerned parties is due to take place on August 20th to progress negotiations. 

Eric Holmes says the status quo will remain until then but warns that he has been unimpressed by the department’s stance so far:
