The Island's joint teaching unions have voiced their concerns over government’s plans to close nurture groups from September.
Nurture groups benefit students who experience emotional and social difficulties.
If the 11 specialist teachers can’t be redeployed by September they will be made redundant.
The unions fear the move will have a detrimental impact on education provision, and are concerned that changes are being introduced too quickly, without being thought through and consulted on.
TUC president Andrew Shipley says this is a downgrading of support to children who need it most:
