Unemployment drops slightly over May

The Island’s unemployment situation improved slightly over May but still shows a slight increase on last year’s figures for the same month.

With more jobs created through summer season work the overall numbers dropped from 1108 to 1072, a decrease of 36 people.

This number represents 2.4% of the economically active population.

Over the last year figures have climbed gradually, with an increase of 116 people out of work.

The Job Centre has reported they still have 320 vacant positions on file.
