Ocean Electric Power Propose Wind Farm for North West Coast of Island
A UK energy company have announced their plans to build a major onshore farm along the North West coast of the Island.
If successful in their bid then Ocean Electric Power would base the station along the coast of Ballaugh and Jurby.
Despite the Government not having anything to do with the project in terms of funding, the energy it created would tie in with their target of generating 15 percent of electricity from renewable sources by 2015.
Michael MHK David Cannan has called a public meeting for the companies Chief Executive to present his proposals.
The Michael MHK has said the general consensus is that his constituents would prefer to see the tidal power utilised.
The meeting is to be held on Tuesday 28th September at Ballaugh’s Parish Hall, open only to Michael constituents due to space constraints.
