Efforts to ensure people can still claim their benefits and pensions at post offices have received unanimous support in Tynwald.
North Douglas MHK John Houghton’s motion to promote and maintain payments at counters – instead of electronically – was supported unanimously.
Even the Social Care Minister, whose department is encouraging bank transfers, supported the motion – although Chris Robertshaw says the real issue is how to adapt to the changing world.
There are 25 post office retail outlets, and a further 22 sub post offices, around the Island.
