Tynwald members have voted to give the Department of Health and Social Care an extra £19 million to meet a budget shortfall this year.
Health Minister Claire Christian asked for the cash to cover a £4.1 million overspend by her department and an overrun of £14.9 million at Manx Care.
A number of Tynwald members were sharply critical of both organisations during the debate.
Four MHKs voted against giving the extra money, while the motion was unanimously backed by MLCs.
