26-year-old Steven Johnston has been charged with robbery. 23-year-old Jessie Clare has been charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The pair live at the same address in Willaston.
It follows the incident at the SPAR shop on the evening of Saturday, January 16th – a male offender stole around £500 in cash.
Officers say despite this development they still want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time – anyone with information can contact Police Headquarters.
