It follows the thrills and spills of last years TT races.
The 3D film opened with £313,000 from 79 screens. Thanks to extensive previews, it achieved the second highest screen average of any film on release behind Fast & Furious.
TT3D's opening number is the biggest for a documentary since Justin Bieber's Never Say Never in February.
It has spread to 60 more new cinemas, ranking it among the most successful big screen documentary releases ever.
