Phytophthora Ramorum was first detected in 2010 in the Ballaugh Plantation but recent surveys have shown it’s spread as far as South Barrule.
The disease which is affecting larch trees causes legions on tree trunks, foliage to die and wilting of stems on shrubs and plants.
Signage has been displayed at affected plantations and visitors have been asked to keep to the designated footpaths and tracks, keep dogs on leads and to make sure footwear and bike wheels are clean before leaving.
