Towed caravan owners facing strict new measures

Owners of towed caravans will face strict control measures later this year.

A new permit system is being implemented - meaning each vehicle will need a valid permit to travel on the Steam Packet.

From November, permits will be issued to owners visiting for the TT Festival, Classic TT or the Southern 100, if they have a return journey within three weeks, or visits to staying at approved campsites.

Drivers may have to follow designated routes from Douglas to the campsites - with restricted travel on the Island's roads.

Journeys booked on or before 1 April 2015 will not be affected and Manx residents will also be required to hold a permit.

New and replacement towed caravans will not be approved.
