Position of Tourism Director is to be discontinued
A major restructuring of the Isle of Man’s Tourism and Leisure division has been announced today.
Following a review carried out by the Department of Economic Development it’s been decided that the workforce is to be cut in half and the position of Tourism Director is to be discontinued.
The 15 staff to be cut will be redeployed either to fill other vacancies in the Department or elsewhere in Government.
The Welcome Centre at the Sea Terminal will be transferred to the Department of Community Culture and Leisure as it was identified 90% of their general enquiries related to aspects of that Department.
Minister Alan Bell has said the restructuring is not motivated by cost cutting but more to do improving efficiency within the Tourism Sector.
