It was however narrowly averted following last-ditch talks between the Communication Workers Union and Post Office chiefs.
The news came as a great relief to the Post Office with feared that the 24-hour walkout could have damaging effects on both the company and their customers.
Union rep Terry Pullinger described the crisis talks as the most positive in over a year.
