Temperatures struggled to hit 15°C in May

Weather for May was split down the middle, according to the Met Office's latest report.

There was a cool dry start which gave way to warmer weather later in the month.

Daytime temperatures struggled to reach 15 degrees Celsius for much of May, with several cold nights and three ground frosts recorded.

Temperatures peaked at 23.1 degrees on Tuesday, May 26, bringing ideal conditions for the start of TT.
