Talk on Douglas IT university this afternoon

Final plans for a state-of-the-art IT university in Douglas will be revealed this afternoon.

At Christmas, TVIM News exclusively revealed initial plans for the £7.5million project, which is spearheaded by charity Manx Educational Foundation.

The group wants to transform the now derelict Castle Mona on Douglas promenade into one of Europe’s leading ICT centres. 

The Department of Economic Development has already pledged £5million to the project, with the MEF having to raise a further £2.5million privately.

David Butterworth of the charity said the university would create a lasting legacy for the Island (play audio):
