A man who assaulted a woman in a drunken rage has narrowly escaped being sent to prison.
Jamie Cowell, of Glen Moar in Laxey, appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood at Douglas Courthouse.
The 39-year-old was found guilty of assault after a trial following the incident on September 20 last year when he twice gripped a woman's neck in an unprovoked attack.
Cowell was sentenced to 20 weeks in jail suspended for two years with a two-year supervision order - he will also pay £750 costs and £250 compensation.
