Strict new rules will be applied to food labelling if new laws are passed.
Tynwald will be asked to apply EU legislation governing the labelling of all food products imported and exported here.
Wording would be changed to contain nutritional information and state the origin of the product – and detail when the foods contain allergens.
As part of the move restaurants and cafes would also be required to carry the information on signs and menus.
