Enforcing planning rules on the Isle of Man can take a "considerable" amount of time but work is being done to speed up the process.
That's the admission from the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture - it says it's now in discussions with local authorities, including Douglas Council, to see if officers can take on some of the 'backlog':
Concerns were raised in the House of Keys about the length of time some cases are taking to be progressed - the department only has one full time planning enforcement officer.
