Kirrie Jenkins has announced she'll stand for Arbory, Castletown & Malew in the general election.
A commissioner for the area, Mrs Jenkins says her priorities will include protecting the Manx countryside and opposing developments which would industrialise the landscape.
The financial services worker adds coming from a farming background gives her an understanding of the challenges facing food production and rural communities.
The Island is set to go to the polls on Thursday, September 24.
