Firefighters are asking drivers to take extra care as changeable weather affects road surfaces.
The Island's Fire and Rescue Service took to Facebook this week to warn motorists after the end of a long dry spell.
It says the prolonged heatwave means oil and dirt have built up on road surfaces, and expected rain can make routes treacherously slippery.
In an appeal to motorists the service says people should exercise caution during rain.
