The Island's Civil Defence unit says a technical fault set off an emergency siren in the North of the Island this morning.
The siren at Ballaugh School began to sound at 5am - but no emergency had been declared.
Emergency Planning Coordinator Ian Young says a malfunction set off the alarm and it's been switched off while engineers examine it.
He's apologised for any inconvenience.
