A sidecar passenger has died following an incident in yesterday’s Southern 100 races.
Paul Thomas from Ballasalla was killed at Osborne’s on the back section of the Billown Circuit.
It happened during the last lap of the Sidecar Championship race and led to the rest of the racing being abandoned.
The 58-year-old was an experienced competitor and previous winner and was racing with Nick Houghton.
Southern 100 organisers say he was a great friend to all connected with the sport of motorcycle racing.
A full investigation into the circumstances of the incident is being carried out.
The Coroner of Inquests has been informed.
