September will see menB vaccines offered for newborn babies

A call has gone out to new parents to ensure they get their babies vaccinated against the B strain of meningitis this September.

The vaccine defends specifically against meningococcal bacteria - the most common cause of meningitis bacteria in the UK and Ireland.
 
Babies born after June this year will be offered the preventative treatment at two, four and 12 months of age.
 
Public Health Nurse Jacqui Dunne offered advice on how to treat the small side effects that can follow the jab:
