Sentence delay for man who attacked in hotel room

A Merseyside man who turned into a "wild animal" before assaulting his girlfriend in a hotel room has had his sentence delayed.

46-year-old Iain Plant appeared at Douglas Courthouse earlier this week - he's previously pleaded guilty to a charge of common assault from February 22nd.

He grabbed the woman, who he'd been dating for seven months, by the throat at the Sefton Express in Castletown before throwing her against a wall and biting her.

The court had previously been told it followed a booze filled evening in which Plant had found texts from another man on her phone.

He was also injured in the assault with his advocate telling the court they were "both as bad as each other".

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes adjourned the case and bailed the St Helens man to return to the Island for sentencing on April 22nd instead.
