The Island's education minister says school holidays are based on key dates like Bank Holidays, and designed to be predictable.
Daphne Caine was quizzed in the House of Keys this week about how her department sets holidays by Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse.
She said each academic year needs schools open to students for 188 days.
