The Department of Education, Sport and Culture says a video of a fight at an Island school uploaded to Youtube last week is a year old.
QEII High School in Peel wouldn't comment on the footage, which made headlines in a national UK newspaper last week and has been removed from the website.
Now, the department says the incident happened last year - describing it as "isolated".
It says those two boys filmed were dealt with at the time in accordance with school policy.
