Douglas Council says people who let their buildings fall into ruinous states will no longer be let off with their rates.
Previously, uninhabitable buildings were exempt.
However, at a meeting yesterday councillors voted to change the policy and end the exemption.
From now on, owners of dilapidated properties will have to stump up.
