Infrastructure Minister David Cretney has said work to replace the baggage handling and security system at Ronaldsway, is going to schedule.
The Minister confirmed that work commenced on the project at the start of this month, with a major effort now being undertaken to have it finished by its September deadline.
The Department were informed of the necessity to change the equipment, at a cost of £3 million, back in September of last year.
The Minister revealed it was the UK’s Department of Transport, not the CAA that directed the Island to comply with their new stringent security measures.
The existing machines have been in place since 2004.
