Gritters have been out working through the night to ensure that the main routes are clear.
Some of the smaller roads that were laced with thick snow still remain blocked and some pavements are extremely dangerous to walk on.
The department of transport are trying to keep the roads clear of ice. They are saying that the main roads are passable with extreme care.
