Roadrage attacker to be sentenced in June

A Glen Maye man who punched another motorist in the head during an incident of road rage will be sentenced in June. 

38-year-old Edward Michael Lewin, of The Lharghan, attacked the driver after he pulled out in front on him in Kirk Michael on February 16th.

Lewin overtook him and then pulled up in front of him blocking his path - he began "shouting and gesturing" before throwing a punch; it resulted in a fight breaking out between the two. 

At Douglas Courthouse earlier this week Lewin pleaded guilty to affray - he also admitted driving without due care and attention and failing to stop for police on a separate date. 

The court was told two officers had tried to stop Lewin at Bishop's Court on March 26th after noting his tax was out of date. 

However Lewin began shouting and swearing at them before lurching forwards and making off at high-speed - almost hitting one of the officers in the process. 

They were forced to chase him until he eventually came to a stop on farmland where he was heard exclaiming "police are picking on me". 

Social enquiry and psychiatric reports have been requested before he's sentenced on June 6th - he's been bailed until that date.
