The Department of Infrastructure says it's seen 12 crashes in the past five years involving oil, mud or chippings on roads.
A Freedom of Information request asked how many instances there'd been of drivers falling foul of oil or fuel spills on Manx roads.
The DoI said of those 12 crashes, oil was named as partly to blame in two, while in another four the deposit on the road wasn't recorded.
It says insurers haven't settled either of the two fuel and oil-related incidents.
