Douglas Lifeboat was launched on Saturday to help a fishing boat which had caught fire.

It went to the aid of the 21 metre vessel at 8.25pm after reports of a blaze in the galley.

The boat, which had seven crew on-board, was 13 miles south of Douglas.

Steam Packet vessel Manannan was put on standby to help as well as the rescue helicopter but both were stood down when the fire was brought under control.

The lifeboat assisted the vessel back to Douglas where it safely berthed at King Edward Pier.
