The Island could be asked to vote in a referendum on assisted dying.
Today in the House of Keys, Dr Alex Allinson guided his private member's bill through its clauses stage.
But during the debate this afternoon, Chief Minister Alf Cannan said there was a time when people needed to have say about the proposals.
He told MHKs it might be that the Island needed to vote one way or the other about the issue.
