A rapist who was jailed for more than 18 years after subjecting his girlfriend to an hours-long ordeal of sexual violence has had an appeal against his sentence thrown out.
Last December, Jon Paul Fayle was imprisoned for 18 years and nine months after being convicted of controlling and coercive behaviour, rape, attempted rape, indecent assault and attempting to choke his partner at his flat in Douglas in 2023.
Fayle, who'd committed 57 previous offences, argued his sentence was excessive.
However, Judge of Appeal Cross and Acting Deemster Hopmeier disagreed, saying he posed a high risk of serious harm to the public and future partners - and dismissed his appeal.
